Waymaker Wednesday: Women in LegalTech – Meet Supin Prem

Supin Prem is a legal operations and LegalTech leader with over 15 years of experience driving contract lifecycle management (CLM), legal operations transformation, and digital enablement. She currently serves as Director – Legal Ops (CLM/GDC) at Spaulding Ridge, where she leads consulting engagements focused on CLM implementation, legal operations strategy, and helping organisations build scalable, technology-enabled legal functions.

Prior to joining Spaulding Ridge, Supin spent over seven years at SpotDraft, where she held multiple leadership roles, most recently as Director – Global Delivery. During her tenure, she led enterprise CLM implementations for global clients, built and scaled high-performing legal operations teams, and worked closely with legal, business, product, and sales stakeholders to deliver AI-enabled contract management solutions. Her work spans solution design, implementation, workflow optimisation, and change management, helping organisations modernise contract operations and accelerate legal transformation.

Driven by a passion for combining legal expertise with technology, Supin focuses on building scalable legal operations functions and enabling organisations to unlock greater efficiency through AI, automation, and process innovation.

1. What inspired you to join the Women in LegalTech community?

Honestly, I never set out to build a career in LegalTech. I come from a legal background, and my journey into this space happened organically. I was fortunate to be part of building the Legal Operations team at SpotDraft in its early days, and it was incredibly rewarding to watch that grow from a two-person team into a global team of more than 50 people.

Along the way, I realized there are still very few spaces where women working at the intersection of law, technology, and leadership can openly share experiences, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. That's what drew me to this community. It's inspiring to be surrounded by women who are shaping the future of legal technology while supporting each other's journeys.

2. If you could solve one problem in the legal world (or beyond) with technology, what would it be?

I'd solve the problem of contracts becoming "forgotten" once they're signed.

A lot of innovation today focuses on making drafting and negotiation faster, which is important. But the real business value of a contract comes after it's executed. Obligations, renewal dates, commercial commitments, and key risks often remain buried in documents that nobody revisits until something goes wrong.

I'd love to see technology make contracts truly operational, turning them from static documents into living business assets that actively help organizations make better decisions

3. What’s one book, podcast, or resource that’s made a big impact on how you think about work or life?

There's no single book that has shaped me as much as one idea that I keep coming back to: People are the greatest strength of any organization.

Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to build and scale teams, and this belief has been reinforced every single time. You can have the best technology, the smartest processes, and the strongest strategy, but ultimately it's the people who bring them to life. Investing in people, creating trust, and helping them grow has always delivered the biggest impact.

4. Outside of work, what’s something you’re passionate about or love spending time on?

I love travelling and experiencing new places. Every trip gives me a fresh perspective and reminds me how much there is to learn from different cultures and ways of thinking.

I also enjoy reading about leadership, personal growth, and mindfulness. Above all, I value spending quality time with my family and friends; they keep me grounded and remind me that success is about much more than work.

5. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received as a woman in your career journey?

Don't settle too early.

There's always something new to learn, and the biggest growth happens when you're willing to step outside your comfort zone. Every time I've taken on something that felt bigger than I was ready for, I've learned more than I ever imagined. So my advice would be: keep challenging yourself, stay curious, and don't let comfort become your destination.

6. If you weren’t working in Law/LegalTech, what’s another path you could totally see yourself in?

I'd probably still find my way into consulting or advisory work just in a broader business context rather than LegalTech alone.

What excites me isn't a particular industry; it's solving complex operational challenges. I love walking into an organization with ambitious goals but evolving processes, and helping build the foundations that allow it to scale. Not just creating a strategy on paper, but designing the operating model, building the right teams, establishing effective processes, and creating a rhythm that continues to deliver results long after I'm gone.

Seeing people, processes, and technology come together to create lasting impact is the part of my work I enjoy most, and I think I'd be drawn to that challenge in almost any industry.
