Waymaker Wednesday: Women in LegalTech – Meet Khushboo Luthra

Updated: Jan 21

Khushboo Luthra is a legal industry insider working at the intersection of law, LegalTech, strategic communication, and digital transformation. She is the Co-Founder of LEXEL, a LegalTech and legal operations advisory that partners with law firms and in-house legal teams to streamline systems, integrate digital tools, and build scalable, future-ready legal operations.

She is also the Founder of METPRO Advisors, where she works closely with professionals and institutions to help them convert subject-matter expertise into visibility, credibility, and sustainable growth through strategic positioning and personal branding.

With over 15 years of experience across law firms, professional services, and institutional advisory roles, her work today focuses on helping the legal ecosystem evolve—by combining advocacy-led marketing, operational insight, and technology-driven strategy.

Here’s a peek into her world:

1. What inspired you to join the Women in LegalTech community?

I joined because I’m deeply interested in how technology can bring stronger systems, processes, and operational discipline into the legal ecosystem — from workflow automation to better practice management. I was also drawn to a community of women who are actively building, implementing, and shaping LegalTech, and I wanted to learn, collaborate, and contribute in that environment. The energy and professionalism of ILTN made it feel like the right community to be part of.

2. If you could solve one problem in the legal world (or beyond) with technology, what would it be?

I’d solve how we manage the business of law in India — because if we want to match global firms, we need to run legal institutions like institutions, not just practices. That means building stronger systems for workflow automation, practice development pipelines, and performance management — and using tech to commoditise routine tasks so lawyers can focus on higher-value work. I also care about work-life balance, job security, and clearer appraisal structures. I often say: India needs to treat law not just as a “profession,” but as an industry — with the maturity and operating discipline that comes with it. It will benefit most to the bottom of the pyramid population and help in deciding millions of cases pending in our courts.

3. What’s one book, podcast, or resource that’s made a big impact on how you think about work or life?

Two books that shaped how I think about digital transformation:

Nandan Nilekani’s book on Imagining India

Driving Digital Strategy by Prof. Sunil Gupta (Harvard)

4. Outside of work, what’s something you’re passionate about or love spending time on?

Cooking and workouts. Cooking for me is akin to meditation — it slows my mind down and brings me back to the present. Exercise and meditation feel like self-love. I also enjoy nature walks. And yes, decluttering and organising are oddly therapeutic for me.

5. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received as a woman in your career journey?

Pick your fights — not every argument or allegation is worth responding to.

And a line I keep coming back to: confidence is silent, insecurities are loud.

6. If you weren’t working in law/legaltech, what’s another path you could totally see yourself in?

Marketing strategy and writing — especially copywriting for ads and jingles. Anything that involves storytelling, positioning, and building a strong narrative would feel very natural to me.

Khushboo’s journey reflects how legal expertise, when paired with strategy and technology, can create meaningful impact beyond traditional roles. She continues to shape how legal professionals and institutions build visibility, scale operations, and adapt confidently to a rapidly evolving LegalTech ecosystem.
