LegalTech Strategic Roundtable | Indian LegalTech Network x Ideate Lab, JGU
India’s LegalTech ecosystem is growing rapidly, but adoption continues to face challenges around awareness, product-market fit, training, economics, infrastructure and trust.
In November 2025, the Indian LegalTech Network (ILTN), in collaboration with the Ideate Lab at O.P. Jindal Global University, brought together leaders from across the LegalTech ecosystem for a closed-door LegalTech Strategic Roundtable.
The objective was to move beyond discussing individual technologies and examine the broader question: what does India’s legal ecosystem need to enable meaningful and sustainable LegalTech adoption?
The discussions resulted in the LegalTech Strategic Roundtable Report: Shaping India’s Next Decade, which identified key barriers to adoption and proposed practical frameworks for the ecosystem.

What Did the Roundtable Identify?
The discussions highlighted six interconnected barriers:
Awareness and mindset
Usability and product-market fit
Change management and training
Economics and value demonstration
Integration and infrastructure
Governance and trust
A central insight was that India cannot be treated as a single LegalTech market. The needs of a large law firm, an independent practitioner, an in-house legal team and a legal aid organisation can be fundamentally different.
The report therefore emphasised the need for context-specific solutions rather than one-size-fits-all technology.
From Recommendations to Commitments
In August 2026, ILTN reconvened stakeholders at the LegalTech Strategic Roundtable: From Recommendations to Commitments, held at Chelmsford Club, New Delhi.
The objective was to take the conversation forward by:
Launching the Strategic Roundtable Report
Discussing its key findings and recommendations
Identifying concrete commitments from ecosystem stakeholders
Exploring collaborative initiatives and working groups
Shaping the next phase of India’s LegalTech ecosystem
The August roundtable also led to the development of a LegalTech Buyer’s Checklist, translating the earlier focus on product evaluation into a more practical resource for organisations considering LegalTech adoption.
What Comes Next?
The journey from the November 2025 roundtable to the August 2026 convening represents a shift from identifying ecosystem challenges to building practical mechanisms for action.
For ILTN, the next phase is about creating stronger connections between LegalTech builders, buyers, practitioners, researchers and other ecosystem stakeholders, while developing practical resources that support informed adoption.
The 2025 roundtable asked: What needs to change?
The 2026 roundtable asked: What can we do next?
The work now is to turn those recommendations and commitments into sustained action.
