The ILTN community in Mumbai gathered for an engaging and fresh round of conversations. The session brought together lawyers, tech professionals, founders, and curious practitioners who were keen to explore where legal tech is headed — and how it’s moving far beyond basic digitisation.

Legal Tech: Beyond Digitisation, Toward Workflow Transformation
The discussion opened with a collective reflection on how legal tech has matured. Participants noted that the first wave of tools simply digitised tasks — converting physical documents, managing cases online, or automating simple steps.
But the next wave? It’s fundamentally rewriting how legal work gets done.
From AI-assisted drafting and research to workflow orchestration and intelligent task allocation, the group explored how technology is beginning to reshape daily operations inside law firms, legal departments, and courts. The conversation touched on efficiency, transparency, adoption challenges, and the changing expectations from clients and legal teams.
Community Activity: “If Legal-Tech Were a Startup”
One of the most appreciated parts of the meetup was the interactive group challenge.
Participants were divided into three teams and given a set of keywords — from “automation” and “compliance” to “AI-native” and “workflow intelligence.”Their task: Create a concise pitch as if they were launching a brand-new legaltech startup.
Each team delivered a unique, creative, and surprisingly practical pitch. The activity sparked laughter, friendly debate, and real insights into what the community sees as the biggest gaps and opportunities in the ecosystem.
What the Room Felt Like
The atmosphere was relaxed, collaborative, and full of curiosity. Attendees openly shared their experiences, challenges with adoption, and ideas for improving legal workflows using smarter, AI-enabled tools.
Mumbai’s legaltech energy continues to rise — and this meetup reinforced just how ready the community is to build, experiment, and rethink the future of legal work.
