Building LegalTech from the Inside | ILTN Women in LegalTech | Event Recap
LegalTech is not just about technology. It is about rethinking how legal services are built, delivered, and scaled. Behind every successful legal technology solution lies a combination of legal expertise, operational understanding, product development, and effective implementation.
As part of its Women in LegalTech series, the Indian LegalTech Network (ILTN) brought together Supin Prem and Vaishali Gopal for a conversation on what it takes to build LegalTech from within the industry.

Beyond Traditional Legal Practice
The discussion explored the work that goes into developing and scaling legal technology solutions, drawing on perspectives across legal tech operations, contract lifecycle management (CLM), implementation, delivery, and consulting.
A key theme was that building effective LegalTech involves much more than developing a product. Organisations must understand how legal teams work, identify operational challenges, and ensure that technology fits into existing workflows. Adoption and implementation are therefore just as important as the technology itself.
The conversation also examined the shift towards consulting and managed solutions, highlighting the different ways LegalTech companies can support organisations beyond providing software alone.
Rethinking Careers in LegalTech
Another important focus was the range of career opportunities emerging beyond conventional legal roles. As the LegalTech ecosystem grows, professionals can explore pathways across legal operations, product development, implementation, consulting, and technology-enabled service delivery.
For students and young professionals, the discussion offered a broader perspective on how legal knowledge can translate into careers at the intersection of law, business, and technology.
The conversation reinforced that the future of legal services will depend not only on technological progress but also on the people who understand how to translate that progress into practical, scalable solutions.
